PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING LIST OF INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY TO MINIMIZE ANY ADVERSE SURGICAL OUTCOMES. IF YOU SHOULD HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK US.

Before your surgery:

Please follow all the preoperative instructions outlined in the Preoperative Instruction Sheet carefully. Avoid any aspirin-containing or aspirin-related products as well as herbal medications and nutritional supplements as outlined in the Preoperative Instruction Sheet.

Items needed for post-operative care: Polysporin ointment, ice pack

After your surgery:

  1. Please follow the Postoperative Instruction Sheet carefully.
  2. Some forehead swelling and bruising are normally present after forehead and brow lift surgery, but the degree of each varies widely from patient to patient. Do not be concerned if you have more or less than others who have undergone the same operation. Generally, most patients appear quite socially acceptable within 10 to 14 days after surgery.
  3. Some numbness around the incisions is normal and will resolve in the first few weeks following your procedure. Do not let this worry you, but always ask if you are concerned.
  4. You may gently shampoo your hair 72 hours after surgery when the dressing is removed, avoiding any strong rubbing or combing trauma to the incisions in the hair and around the ear. You may apply a small amount of Polysporin to the incision areas, however, it tends to make the hair feel oily. Do not blow dry for 5 days, and postpone any planned permanent waves or hair coloring for 4 weeks following surgery.
  5. Finally, it is very important to your well being that you follow completely all instructions given you by this office, and that we check your progress regularly following surgery.
  6. DON’T TAKE ANY CHANCES! If you are concerned about anything you consider significant, call me at 512-401-2500 or 866-451-2500.
