If you’re searching for something that will quickly and effectively increase your self-esteem, boost your appearance, and give you that refreshed and youthful feeling you’ve been looking for, then getting a Botox treatment at Buckingham Center for Facial Plastic Surgery may be the perfect solution.

Botox is extremely popular because it’s a safe, non-invasive, and convenient wrinkle treatment that really works. If you’ve recently decided to have a Botox treatment or you’re currently considering it, then you may be feeling curious or even slightly anxious about the recovery process. Good news—we’re about to put your mind at ease.

Having a Botox treatment is not only a very simple and straightforward process with amazing results, but you can also expect minimal downtime and few side effects.

Preparing For Your Treatment

Luckily, the treatment process for Botox is a relatively quick and simple one. You can expect the procedure to take about 10 minutes. Depending on the treatment areas, you will likely get several injections with a fine 32-gauge needle, which should cause only minimal discomfort.

Typically, the areas to be treated will be numbed with an ice pack prior to injection. This will safely reduce pain or discomfort during your session. Patients who experience increased levels of anxiety prior to their treatment may also have a topical numbing cream applied to lessen their discomfort.

Immediately Following Your Treatment

This treatment is so quick and minimally invasive that there is really no downtime involved. Our patients are able to get back to work or their normal daily activities right away after their procedure.

Within 4 hours after your treatment, you can even engage in light exercise, if you wish. Most patients find that there is no pain immediately following the injections. This means you can begin to quickly enjoy all of the benefits of your treatment with minimal inconvenience.

Botox Treatment Aftercare

There are a few things you will need to avoid after your treatment to ensure the best results and to minimize side effects as you wait to enjoy your new youthful appearance.

You should avoid rubbing or massaging the injection sites, as this can potentially spread the injected Botox into the surrounding muscles. For approximately two to three hours after your session, you should also avoid lying flat, especially if your Botox session was performed to treat frown lines. Lying down prematurely may cause the Botox to settle unevenly.

Typically, Botox will begin to take effect within several days following your session and will increase in effectiveness during the first week. For some patients, however, the full effects can take up to 2 weeks to fully emerge. The results of Botox typically last for 3 to 4 months, depending on the treatment areas.

Potential Aftereffects of Botox

Like any medical treatment, there is, of course, a risk for minimal side effects following your Botox session. After your injections, it is possible to experience some slight discomfort, mild bruising, swelling, and/or a headache. You can treat these symptoms by applying an ice pack to the affected area and taking Tylenol to ease any discomfort you may be experiencing.

Should you develop any rashes or experience abnormal swelling that persists for 3 or more days, please contact our office right away. Botox is a widely used injectable treatment and is both highly safe and effective.
