Nano Laser Peel

Austin, TX

Doctors Edward Buckingham and Erin Smith offer Nano Laser Peel solutions for patients in Austin & Sunset Valley, TX. Years of sun damage, exposure to the elements, chemicals, genetics, and the normal aging process can eventually take a visible toll on the skin. Dry, dull tissues can accelerate the aging process and contribute to wrinkles, fine lines, and areas of discoloration. While traditional chemical peels have long been an excellent choice in facial rejuvenation, the process can be harsh, meaning the technique is not right for everyone.

However, at Buckingham Center for Facial Plastic Surgery, there is a new kind of peel in town: the Nano Peel. Different from traditional chemical peels and microdermabrasion treatments, the Nano Peel involves a precision laser, using light therapy to eliminate damaged skin and restore a youthful appearance. Designed to significantly improve the look of tired, lifeless skin with minimal downtime, the newest addition to Dr. Edward Buckingham’s arsenal of cutting-edge, noninvasive techniques is the perfect choice for those patients interested in taking their first step into laser treatments.

The Nano Peel

The innovative Nano Peel, from trusted laser manufacturer Sciton, provides a unique option for patients looking to restore youthful-looking skin. Using the power of light energy, the Nano Peel targets only the dull skin cells in the stratum corneum, instantly removing the top layer of dead tissue. As these aging tissues are refreshed, both the skin’s texture and tone are improved, leaving a brighter, fresher, softer appearance in only a few days. Going one step beyond traditional chemical peels and microdermabrasion treatments, the Nano Peel accelerates the skin’s renewal process by activating messenger proteins within the skin. These unique proteins communicate with the deepest layers of tissue, restoring healthy skin that looks beautiful and luminous for months to come.

Benefits of the Nano Peel:

  • Rejuvenating “peel” option without the use of chemicals or harsh grinds
  • Gently removes the top layer of dry, dull, damaged skin
  • Improves skin texture and tone
  • Eliminates areas of discoloration
  • Restores luminosity
  • Compliments additional treatments, such as Botox or dermal filler injections

The Nano Peel Procedure

Each Nano Peel is performed using Sciton’s Er: YAG laser. The treatment, performed in a comfortable, private office suite, normally takes less than 30 minutes. The skin is first cleaned, then safety shields, to protect the eyes, are then provided. The streamlined Nano Peel laser hand piece will be held above the targeted skin, remaining in place as the one-of-a-kind computer-guided scanner directs the laser beam across the treatment area. While most patients find the technique to be pain-free, Dr. Buckingham can provide additional topical anesthetics, as needed. The Nano Peel treatment can be customized for each individual patient’s unique skin needs, with multiple modules designed to address a wide range of correction.

Compared to traditional chemical peels, minimal downtime is required. The treated skin will initially look frosty, as it dries and is sloughed away. Over the next three to four days, mild to moderate redness, peeling, and tenderness will occur as the thin, outer layer of dry, damaged skin falls away. In less than a week, patients will see a fresher, tighter, more youthful appearance.

The Nano Peel FAQ

What the Nano Peel?

The Nano Peel is a unique laser treatment, designed to rejuvenate the facial tissues without surgery or the use of harsh chemicals. The cutting-edge Er: YAG laser, from Sciton, can address fine lines, age spots, and damaged skin, revealing a fresher, more luminous appearance. After only one treatment, taking less than 30 minutes, patients can expect to see youthful, healthy tissue appear, with improved tone and texture.

Am I a good candidate for the Nano Peel?

Almost anyone can make a good candidate for the Nano Peel from Buckingham Center’s aesthetic nurses. Those who are frustrated with the early signs of aging, including the appearance of fine lines, dull skin tone, enlarged pores, or areas of hyperpigmentation may find the Nano Peel to be the noninvasive treatment they are looking for. Patients who are pregnant or suffering with a skin infection may not make a good candidate for the technique. During your one-on-one consultation appointment at Buckingham Center for Facial Plastic Surgery, your aesthetic nurse will determine if the Nano Peel is right for you.

What areas can be treated with the Nano Peel?

While the face and neck are the most commonly treated areas, Nano Peel technology can be used to improve the appearance of the chest and hands, as well. During your consultation, Dr. Buckingham will explain the ideal treatment options available to achieve the desired results.

How long will my Nano Peel take?

The Nano Peel is a quick, painless, in-office procedure. The entire face can be treated in less than 30 minutes.

What can I expect after my Nano Peel?

Immediately after your Nano Peel, the treated skin will be dehydrated, with a frosty, white appearance. This dry tissue will then be sloughed away over the next few days, giving way to fresh, healthy skin. Downtime will last for four to five days, during which time the skin may be red and tender, resembling a sunburn. Minor swelling is common, as well. In less than a week, your face will look younger and more luminous.

How many Nano Peel treatments will I need?

Most patients can achieve their desired facial rejuvenation with only one Nano Peel session. However, depending on the individual’s skin condition and intended correction, Dr. Buckingham may recommend a repeat treatment, or suggest additional techniques, to achieve optimal benefits.
