Patient Info

Gender: Male
Procedures: Rhinoplasty
Procedure Description:

This 17-year-old male presented to our clinic following nasal trauma after being hit with a baseball at age 14. His nose became severely deviated after the accident and he was unable to breathe through his right nostril and had restricted air flow in his left nostril. He presented to discuss rhinoplasty. On examination, his nasal bones were shifted to the right and his cartilage dorsum was fractured to the left. Internally, it was noted that he had severe septal deviation to the right with slight deviation to the left of the very front of his septum. His left inferior turbinate was enlarged and his internal nasal valve was narrowed on the left.

To address his concerns, a cosmetic rhinoplasty, septoplasty, and left inferior turbinate reduction were performed. You can see that he no longer has the significant curvature of his external nose noted on the frontal photo and there are no depressions along his nasal dorsum. You can also see his improved profile view following straightening of his dorsum and removal of his dorsal hump. His breathing is also much improved after straightening his septum, reducing his internal turbinate, and improving his internal nasal valve.
