Rhinoplasty
This 39-year-old female presented in clinic with cosmetic and functional concerns regarding her nose. She specifically stated difficulty breathing through her left nostril. Upon examination, she was found to have significant septal deviation with left-sided obstruction at 90%. She was also found to have external deformities with tip asymmetry, elongated nose and over projected tip. To address her concerns, she has undergone a cosmetic rhinoplasty with nasal septal correction and placement of spreader grafts.
When comparing the before and after photos, on frontal view one can notice how the dorsum to tip line is much straighter with the dorsum being slightly wider in the middle third and the tip more narrow, slightly turned up and the columella (bottom part) doesn’t hang down any more. On the lateral view, the observer can easily appreciate the better proportions of the nose, while still maintaining a very natural appearance. Functionally, she has been improved by straightening the septum and widening the dorsum slightly.
