Woman tucking her hair behind her ear

When it comes to facial rejuvenation, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. The ideal combination of procedures depends on each patient’s unique facial anatomy, aesthetic goals, and personal preferences. While some individuals may benefit from addressing multiple areas of the face, others may choose to focus on a single concern—such as a lower facelift—even if other regions could also benefit from enhancement.

Understanding How the Face Ages

Facial aging occurs in three primary ways:

  • Skin Changes: These include fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and pigmentation. Treatments like chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, and microneedling can help restore smoother, more youthful skin.
  • Gravitational Changes: Over time, gravity causes sagging in areas like the neck, jawline, and brow. These concerns are typically addressed with procedures such as a facelift, neck lift, or brow lift.
  • Volume Loss: Aging also leads to a loss of facial volume, especially in areas like the temples, under-eyes, and cheeks. This can be corrected with dermal fillers (e.g., Sculptra, RHA Collection, Restylane, Juvederm) or fat grafting, which offers a natural and long-lasting solution.

Regional Facial Analysis and Combination Procedures

Facial rejuvenation is often most effective when approached regionally. Surgeons frequently combine procedures to achieve balanced, harmonious results. For example:

  • Endoscopic brow lift is commonly paired with upper eyelid blepharoplasty to refresh the upper face.
  • Lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is often combined with fat grafting to the lower eyelids and cheeks for a smoother, more youthful contour.
  • A lower facelift can be performed alongside skin resurfacing treatments to address both structural and surface-level aging.

Combining procedures can be both safe and efficient, reducing overall recovery time and delivering more comprehensive results.

Is a Combination Approach Right for You?

Whether you're considering a full facial rejuvenation or a targeted procedure like a mini facelift or eyelid surgery, the best approach is one that aligns with your anatomy and goals. A consultation with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon will help determine the most effective treatment plan for your needs.
