This patient in her mid-50s consulted with Dr. Buckingham regarding her concerns about the aging appearance of her lower face. Upon examination, Dr. Buckingham noted typical signs of aging in the lower face and neck, including the beginning of slight sagging at the jawline and visible but shallow "smile lines" running from the nose to the mouth. Under the chin, there was a small amount of extra fullness, and the vertical muscles in the neck stood out as thin cords, though they remained well-connected near the top. Because the underlying structure of the neck remained quite firm, a platysmaplasty was not necessitated for this patient. Dr. Buckingham performed a Limited Incision Lower Facelift. Her jawline is now smooth, the sagging jowls have been resolved, and the shadow of the nasolabial area has been improved by the tightening of the lower face. The patient is very pleased with her results and the overall more youthful appearance of her aesthetic.
