This patient in her mid-50s scheduled a consultation with Dr. Edward Buckingham after a couple of her friends and previous patients highly recommended him to address her facial aging concerns. Her primary areas of concern were her neck, lower face, and long upper lip. Looking into her cosmetic history, she revealed that more than five years ago, she underwent an Ultherapy treatment on her neck at a clinic in another country, which she felt actually made the area look worse. Additionally, she received Bellafill injections in her cheeks about three years prior. During her physical examination, Dr. Buckingham noted loose, sagging skin and muscle in her lower face and neck. To correct this, he recommended a lower facelift combined with a platysmaplasty, which tightens the neck muscles and removes excess neck fat. He also identified an elongated white upper lip. To address this, he recommended a subnasale lip lift to shorten the distance and create a more youthful balance. The patient elected to proceed with the recommended surgical plan. At her three-month post-operative follow-up appointment, she was healing beautifully. All of her surgical incisions were well-healed, and there was a highly notable improvement in both the firmness of her lower face and neck, as well as the shortened length of her upper lip. The patient expressed that she was incredibly pleased with her natural, refreshed, and youthful appearance which is appraent in her post operative photos.
