Skin Cancer Reconstruction
This 84 year old gentleman was referred to us with a very difficult squamous cell cancer of the inferior part of the nose. He underwent excision of the cancer by a dermatologic surgeon utilizing the Mohs technique. Following the excision his defect involved the entire columella of the nose, most of the nasal tip and a large portion of the central upper lip. His reconstruction was extensive and involved rotation of bilateral pedicled nasal mucosal flaps, harvest of the nasal septum, bilateral complete rotation flaps of the upper lips and a paramedian forehead flap for outer covering of the nose. (A flap where the forehead is used to reconstruct the nose) His post-operative photos demonstrate a return to a normal appearance.
