Facelift
This 69-year-old female presented to clinic desiring improvements to her jawline and neck area. Patient lost over 100 pounds several years ago which has resulted in the heavy and saggy appearance.
On physical examination, she was found to have significant neck laxity and a low hyoid bone (this is a U-shaped bone in the neck area that supports the tongue and partially determines the degree of improvement possible in the neck) without significant neck fat. To address her concerns we recommended a Lower Facelift with Plastysmaplasty.
Comparing the frontal views demonstrates the overall youthful change by eliminating the jowling. The lateral and oblique views better demonstrate the improvement in the jawline and neck giving her a natural yet rejuvenated appearance. Note also the slight improvement even in the lower naso-labial fold and improvement in the cheek.
